Coast Guard Brisbane is staffed entirely by volunteers to provide a marine search and rescue service. In addition to some State Government funding, we raise our funds from interested members of the public including our Marine Assist Contributors, sponsors and fund raising events.

Coast Guard Brisbane rescues hundreds of boats every year, with problems ranging from mechanical breakdowns to groundings, fires, sinking vessels and medical emergencies. Every boat strikes trouble sooner or later; rescues like these cost Coast Guard Brisbane hundreds of dollars.

The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is a totally voluntary service which relies predominantly on the fund raising efforts of its volunteer members to provide this service all year round.

But for only $80 per vessel each year, you get:

  • Assistance to a point of safety by Coast Guard Brisbane.
  • Your marine assist Membership Card shall recognise you as a supporter of Coast Guard Brisbane.
  • Communications assistance with Coast Guard Brisbane, whether calling on VHF, HF, 27Mz or Mobile Phones.
  • Weather reports, tidal information and bar reports upon request.

Your contribution will apply to a single boat owner or joint owners for a specific vessel and is not transferable on change of ownership of the vessel. Contribution commences on lodgement of an application and payment of the chosen fee.
