Flotilla operating hours:

Flotilla meeting: 3rd Wednesday of every month – 1930-2030.

CG01 (Rescue Vessel) is on patrol on weekends and public holidays from sunset to sunrise.

Crew are on standby 24/7 for Search and Rescue. Crew are activated by pagers and coordinated by Coast Guard Melbourne.

Area covered:

Coast Guard Frankston patrols the south east part of Port Phillip approximately 70 sq. Nautical miles. However VF1 are not bound to those perimeters, such as responding to a Search and Rescue incident or assisting another Coast Guard vessel in other parts of the bay. Our second response and support vessels can be transported across the state to aid for further emergencies. They are often used in Western Port.

Vessels and equipment:

VF1 have three rescue vessels.

CG01 is our primary response vessel CG01 is an 8.3m Promarine aluminium vessel with twin 112kW (150 hp.) outboards and is located at a mooring in Patterson River. This vessel is used for regular patrols, Search and Rescue, special events and training. It is equipped with state of art equipment such as: GPS/chart plotter, Radar and Infrared camera. CG01 is also equipped with a fire pump to fight marine fires. CG01 top speed can do in excess of 30 knots.

CG201 is our inshore rescue vessel. CG 201 is a 4.8m Naiad Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat, it has twin 45kW (60 hp) outboards. CG 201 is on standby at VF1 Headquarters. CG201 is easily transportable, allowing the vessel to respond to other assists around the state in support of other flotillas.

CG301 is our support vessel. It is a 4m Stessel aluminium open vessel with a single 19kW (25 hp.) outboard. CG301 is used in areas such as Kananook Creek and other shallow areas. It is easily transportable as well. It is also on standby at VF1 Headquarters.

Mobile 401 is our emergency vehicle. It is a Nissan Patrol 4WD. It is primarily used for as our towing vehicle for CG 201.

Mobile 501 Coast Guard Caravan for mobile use. Often used at fundraising events.

ESU 601 is our equipment trailer, it contains:

  • 2 kW 240 volt generator.
  • 2 x 500 watt lighting units (including tripod)
  • Motorised water pump
  • 100 metres heavy duty rope.
  • Spare fuel
  • Storage compartments
  • Interior lighting.
  • Coast Guard marine radio.

Average number of boat crew: 30.
VF1 desperately needs more members.
