QF6 is based on the Mooloolah River at 65 Parkyn Parade and covers the waters North of Point Cartwright to south of Point Arkwright, including the Mooloolah and Maroochy rivers. With three dedicated rescue boats and over 120 operational volunteers we are here 24/7 to help any member of the boating public.

The base, at the Parkyn Parade boat ramp, is manned 24 hours most days with a home based night watch radio covering some night shifts. Vessel crews are available 24/7 with the vessels patrolling during weekends and public holidays.

Vessel owners in the region can become supporters of QF6 by contacting us at the base or emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Your support allows the volunteers to provide the 24/7 service to you and your community, so even if you don’t think you’ll need our help maybe someone you know will?

We are always looking for willing volunteers to learn new skills and help the community. In return for your time will can offer national accredited training and the chance to put it into practise on a regular basis. All we ask is that you can commit to a minimum number of shifts per month, so that you remain current and effective.

We need staff for radio watch, boat crew and administration, with the only requirement being that you are healthy and keen to learn.
