It is with sorrow that I pass this news on to you all.
Commodore Malcolm Wilson ESM, passed away early on the 30/8/2006.
Malcolm joined NF3 (Coast Guard Cottage Point, NSW) in 1989. He was, at
various times, Flotilla Commander of NF3, Commodore of NSW Squadron and
Chair of the NSW State Council. He was also an inaugural member of the Volunteer
Marine Rescue Council of NSW and held numerous posts within this body for
many years. He was also a Patrol Officer and, for many years led a Sunday
duty team at Cottage Point.
He was granted the highest honour in Coast Guard in April 2005 when he was
awarded life membership, and was awarded the Emergency Services Medal in
the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2002. Just recently, NF20 (Coast Guard
Tuggerah Lakes) named their rescue vessel after him, as a sign of the respect
they have for him and the assistance he gave to them during formation.
Despite ill health, he has been working hard in the background on National
Special Projects, right up until recently.
He has also previously been the associations National PR person and was
well respected by all.
He will be missed.
